This is a study of systematic Theology using Wayne Grudem's Book. We are in chapter 3. and this is the second week of our class. In this study we will be looking at the Verbal Inspiration of Scripture. We will start with the basic's and grow in our understanding of the scriptures that we hold dear. Important Terms. ¨Bible- Greek biblos meaning Book. ‘papyrus, scroll. It is actually a Book of Books, specifically the 66 books. ¨Testament- Covenant between two or more individuals. ¨The Bible contains 2 Covenants or Testaments. ¨The Are 39 Books in the Current Old Testament. ¨There are 27 Books in the Current New Testament. Norma Normans Non Normata, the Latin phrase meaning: The Norm of norms which cannot be normed. The Holy Scriptures are the final standard for judging all teaching, and all doctrine. Yet it has no peer, nor higher authority. Inspired- Theopneustos - inspired of God. God-breathed. A word which appears only one time in the Scriptures. ¨The Scriptures have a power and an authority equaled by no other written source. For this reason, theologians refer to the Sacred Word as the Norm of Norms that is without Norm. ¨In Greek, the term pasa graphe or “all scripture” can mean “each passage of scripture” or the entirety of the scriptural word. ¨Canonicity- A study of that which makes up the Canon or standard of Holy Scripture. ¨Canon- From the Greek word Kanōn. A Standard, Measuring rod, a Rule, or Norm. The Bible is the supreme measuring Rod for all faith and practice for the church.
