Now in John Chapter 1 we meet Andrew. He was a disciple of John who became a follower of Jesus.
The first time we meet Andrew in the Gospels is in Matt 4.18. We see there that Andrew and his brother Peter are fishermen.
In John’s Gospel we see that Andrew is first a disciple of John.
Andrew hears the Good news that the Lamb of God had arrived. (John 1.36) God’s Lamb who would take away the sins of the world had finally come to the nation and when Andrew heard that Jesus was the Lamb, Andrew left John and followed Jesus.
Andrew knew that He had found the Messiah (John 1.40)
The Messiah to the Jews was the Son of God.
When Andrew saw the Lamb of God He had found the Son of God. The Messiah that had been promised by the prophets of his people.
Andrew became one of the 12 Apostles, he did not become as famous as his brother Peter but Andrew brought people to Jesus.
