On the Bible study recently, we visited Genesis 24 where we saw the amazing connection between Eleazar meeting Rebekah at the well with a pitcher of water, and the mysterious man with the pitcher of water leading the disciples to the upper room for the Last Supper. Genesis is a huge book, and this was really just a tasty nugget for us to dive into and feast on. So with that in mind, tonight we start our multi-part series of gleaning more of these nuggets from Genesis as the Holy Spirit would lead us to uncover.
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1 (KJB)
On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we find ourselves in Genesis 5, where a number of highly interesting things are taking place. First, and foremost, we learn the reason why believers must become 'born again' if they are to ever have hope of gaining entrance into the Kingdom of God. We see a fascinating chronology up to and including the fact that Noah's father, Lamech, lived to the ripe, old age of 777! We even see the only person ever born on this earth, Enoch, (who is still alive all these millennia later), who didn't die after their birth and in fact will never see death. "But wait!", you cry, "I thought Elijah and Jesus…", no and no again. Enoch is the only human who never died, and the reason for this will thrill you to your very soul, I promise. |
