In 1 Cor 6:9-11, we find a consistent Pauline pattern. While the Apostle refers to unbelievers according to their particular penchants for sin, he never uses that terminology to identify Christians. Identifying ourselves according to our sinful inclinations belongs to the old way of life. As Paul says in 2 Cor 5:17, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. Those behaviors may have characterized us in the past but we are under a new authority. Our true identity is in Christ.
