I. Consider the Work of God. Ecclesiastes 7:13
A. The verse says, “Consider the work of God,” (not the plight of man).
B. God is all-wise and always has a good purpose in “all things.” Romans 8:28
C. All creatures of God are accountable to their Creator, even Satan.
II. Why does God test us with difficulties?
A. To show us who we really are
B. To wean us from this world, Mark 10:17-22; Luke 15:17
C. To convict us of sin, as with Joseph’s brothers, Genesis 50:15
D. To prevent from sin
E. To uncover some latent corruption
F. To strengthen and manifest Christian graces we already have
III. A “crook” in our life is from God.
A. This ought to comfort us in trials.
B. If we do not recognize this, it brings reproof. Psalm 28:1-5
IV. God directs those who oppose us, but will not reward them for it. Genesis 12:3
V. When God chastens His people, we should not soften His work. Proverbs 17:15 |
