But the primary purpose of the local church is to fulfill the great commission, and make disciples of The Lord Jesus Christ. For the Pastor and teaching Elders and those designated to the task of teachers, we are charged with preaching and teaching and believing the whole counsel of God, without wavering. So far Luke has told us about the fame of Jesus, as he is writing this letter to Theopolous. We see in the other gospels also that Jesus was pretty famous when the angel announced to Mary that she was going to bear the Messiah. He was pretty famous when the Magi came to King Herod to inquire about him. He was pretty famous at 12 in the temple. He was pretty famous when He stood up and told everyone that He was the fulfillment of Prophecy and they had been rejected. Jesus was famous when He was Baptized and God the Holy Spirit descended and remained with Him. It was a pretty large crowd that watched and heard as a voice spoke out of the heavens and said theis is my beloved son. But what made Jesus really famous was when He began healing everyone of everything. He even cast out demons and they had to obey. Jesus doesn't obey the religious leaders, but He clarifies and teaches the whole counsel of God's Word. What hurt Jesus in His ministry to build and keep His first mega Church was the fact that He preached the truth, and He called everyone to repentance. He never intended to build a mega church, He came to build His kingdom, and He did that with truth and precision. Jesus knows how to build His church and we would do well to follow His example.
