Theme: True wisdom can only come from one source: from above. In v. 13, we see the demonstration of wisdom. True wisdom is another test of living faith, and the wisdom one possesses is made clear by the life one lives. In vv. 14-16, we see the description of false wisdom. False wisdom comes from the world and is based on man's own understanding. The motives of false wisdom are bitter jealousy and selfish ambition. The sources of false wisdom are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. The fruits of false wisdom are disorder and every vile practice. In vv. 17-18, we see the description of true wisdom. Heavenly wisdom above all is a reflection of moral purity, and is a direct reflection of the fruits of the spirit. Heavenly wisdom has a harvest of righteousness sown in peace. Good conduct is the basis of how Christians demonstrate Heavenly wisdom.
