Sanctification follows justification and is the essence of Philippians 2:12-13. “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” The chapter division obscures the fact Romans 7:1-6 from the discussion in Chapter 6. Paul answered the question he raised in 6:14. “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” How will sin have no dominion over us if we are not under law, but under grace?
