Do you really think and pray like a reconciled person? My estimatation is that the majority of even real regenerated Christians, either do not pray like reconciled persons, or do so more in spurts than as a settled pattern. Here then is the proposition I want to make about this text and this sermon: If you believed that you were as secure as this passage says you are, you would fret less, pray more regularly with more confidence, and enjoy God and your brothers and sisters in Christ more also. Nothing is at all exgerated in that proposition. Possibly you are acquainted with the mugging of "little-faith" in John Bunyan's Pilgrims Progress. People who think and pray like reconciled persons are the antithesis of "little-faith." This message was given at a joint meeting of two local churches. There were some of Isaac Watts hymns sung, with an emphasis on "facing a frowning world" and "smiling at Satan's rage". Thus the emphasis is timely. This message has very helpful content for committed believers.
