God Himself may delay dealing with idolaters, and choose not to recompense them for their odious sins and superstitions. Nevertheless, God is righteous to condemn idolaters, as idolatry breaks the first commandment, and the making of images for religious purposes is a breach of the second commandment. In our passage God announces that He will finally repay the city of Samaria in the Northern Kingdom of Israel for her many years of idolatry. Why does God hate idolatry?
