1 Timothy is a letter that explains how the Household of God is to operate, see 1 Timothy 3:15.
There are 4 types of prayers: supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings.
For whom are we to pray? All people without distinction.
To drive this point home, Paul says pray for those in authority. And, Paul lists 3 benefits of praying the gospel for those in authority. 1) a quiet and tranquil life, 2) a godly life, and 3) honesty/dignity.
What are the spiritual benefits of praying for all people without distinction?
1 - Gospel prayer pleases God. 2 - God accomplishes his plan of salvation through prayer.
Summary: The church that does not pray the gospel for people, will not preach the gospel to people. And the church that does not preach the gospel, will not love people. And the church that does not love people, will not love Christ, and they will soon have thier candlestick removed.
But, the church that loves Christ, will love people. And the church that loves people will preach the gospel to people. And the church that preaches the gospel to people will pray for them.
Prayer is the pipeline that connects sinners to the grace of God.
