This morning, we want to look at another woman in the Bible. She was a daughter, wife, and mother. She was not a perfect woman. She was born a sinner like the rest of us, but God used her mightily in His purposes of redemption. This woman did not grow up in a big city or with much money, but she had a greater treasure than money can buy—the knowledge of God. As we look at this woman who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in the city of Nazareth in Galilee, I pray you are inspired to see how God can save and use unlikely candidates to serve his purposes. The woman we will discuss this morning was the bride of a carpenter and the mother of the Messiah. Elizabeth said she was the mother of my Lord (Luke 1:43). She was Jesus' mom. Jesus, James, Joses (Joseph), Simon, Judas, and her daughters all would call her mother. Her name is Mary. |
