New Heart, New Spirit_24 Ezekiel 28:1-26The King of Tyre and the CHERUBIM.No matter how exalted our position is in life, each of us will one day stand before God and give an account for what we have done. Those of us who trust Christ, obey God's holy commandments, and live a righteous life will receive the richest rewards imaginable. But those who reject Christ, disobey God, and live evil lives will face His terrifying judgment.God pronounced His coming judgment on the ruler (prince) of Tyre. In the former two chapters, God pronounced judgment on the great but corrupted city of Tyre. Now He speaks directly to the ruler of Tyre, pronouncing that a very special judgment is reserved for him. Opinions differ as to whether this ruler was Ittobaal II or Ittobaal III. The ruler of Tyre faced the judgment of God because of his sinful pride, self-sufficiency, and claim to be a god. He boasted of his superior intelligence and wisdom, exalting himself above others. Ezekiel pronounced God's coming judgment upon the city of Sidon. Sidon and Tyre were considered sister cities. Throughout Scripture, the two are always mentioned together. Every act of sin, ranging all the way from an immoral thought to murder, is the result of the depravity of our human nature, the temptation of the devil, or both. Satan seeks to control both nations and people. He does this by enticing people to sin, to cut the heart of God by disobeying His holy commandments. God warns us to guard against the temptations of the devil and to resist all evil.
