The hard-hearted and spiritually blind members of the Sanhedrin were furious with the apostles. Then God raised up a man who wasn't one of the 12, Stephen. By God's power, he did miracles and he too proclaimed Christ. So of course, he was arrested. The Sanhedrin subpoenaed false witnesses who accused him of blaspheming Moses, of blaspheming God, of speaking ill of the temple and of the law of Moses, and claiming he said Jesus would destroy the temple and all the things done there.
Chapter 7 begins with Acts 7:1: The high priest said, "Are these things so?" That launched Stephen into what I've labeled the Best Last Words, Ever. In our final visit to this chapter, it is the end for Stephen.
