In 1 Peter 1, we are exhorted as believers to rejoice in our temptations and trials. Peter includes both temptations to sin and suffering in that exhortation, even though it seems counterintuitive that either would result in rejoicing. He even goes so far as to say that temptations and trials are necessary, although temporary, as part of God's plan for His work in us. How we respond to temptations and trials is proof of our faith, with true faith yielding praise and honor and glory to the Lord in the short term, with praise and honor and glory coming to us from the Lord in the end.
