If you heard the name of the person on earth that you love the most being cursed, mocked, and used in filthy jokes, would you not be upset and indignant? I would certainly hope so. If you considered it no big deal that your loved one's name was being dragged through the mud, I think most of us would consider it questionable (perhaps even doubtful) whether you truly loved that person. For how you treat the name of a person will reveal whether you honor the person or despise the person. Does it not bother you when your name is privately or publicly cursed, mocked, or maligned? When your name is so treated, do you not appreciate those who defend you? If this is true of your name, should you not all the more uphold the infinitely holy name of your glorious Father in heaven? And if you will defend your own name (or a loved one's name) but not God's holy name, is it not clear who holds the first place in your life. How you respond to the name of Jesus when it is honored or when it is despised will say much about your love for Him and your near relationship to Him or your coolness to Him and your distant relationship to Him. How you honor or dishonor the name of God will reveal whether you truly cherish the Lord or are merely pretending to do so. Do you honor the Lord's name by what you listen to or watch?
