A. Judging others. 'Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest'.
B. Condemning oneself. 'For wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself. For thou that judgest doest the same things'.
C. None are righteous by nature. Paul later charges all with sin, whether Jews or Gentiles (2.10-11).
II. Judgement (2.2-3).
A. God's judgement is certain. (Hebrews 10.11-14)
III. Solution (2.4)
Paul is not a pessimist.
A. The character of God. (Psalm 106.10-21, Acts 7.51-53).
B. The repentance of sinners. The goodness of God leads to repentance. (Hosea 14.1-2). Sinners gain nothing by ignoring God, hating God or seeking to escape God. The Saviour's message from the outset was, 'Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand' (Matthew 4.17).
Conclusion
The great need of our day is for sinners to turn from their sins with grief and hatred, seek the Lord while he may be found and walk in the light of the Lord.
