Sanctification is both a position and a process. There is a difference between Old Testament sanctification and New Testament sanctification. Of the 64 times the term appears in the Old Testament, God is the agent of the sanctification only 12 times. (And two of those times God is sanctifying Himself!) Most of the time in the Old Testament human beings are sanctifying some one or some thing EXTERNALLY. By contrast, in the New Testament, most of the time it is God Who is doing the sanctifying. And God starts His sanctifying work INTERNALLY.
