As Job once asked, "If a man dies, shall he live again?" so Christianity answers this question with a clear affirmative. The Old Testament mentions in several places the resurrection of the dead; it was, in fact, an axiom of the Pharisees. Paul affirms his Jewish orthodoxy on this point in the council meeting in Acts 26 - he believed in the resurrection from the dead before he was ever confronted by the risen Christ on the road to Damascus. The contribution of Daniel 12:2 to the OT doctrine is its declaration that there will be a bodily resurrection of both believers and unbelievers. The NT, and Jesus in particular, confirm this universal resurrection of all humankind. There are only two destinies awaiting all people - to eternal life or eternal condemnation - both in a bodied existence.
