The women went to embalm a dead body that first Easter morning. Many seek to worship a dead Jesus. Their dead Jesus may be in the form of a statue, or a painting, or a good luck charm on their dashboard. Let us be very sure that the Jesus we worship is the real Jesus. The Jesus of the Scriptures, not one created in the image of man by men. Not a bathtub Jesus! A bathtub Jesus contains a domestic Jesus, one you can come to on your terms. If this is the equivalent of your Jesus, run to the real Jesus. The fear of death plagues every human soul. As one said so well "born you are and die you must." When I was a little boy I would worry that death was like going back to the time before you were born. But now we know it's worse than that for those who are not in Christ. When we were little, our parents would read us a bedtime story which always ended with, "and they all lived happily ever after." We all want to live happily ever after and we know that the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His eternal life guarantees our resurrection. Eternal life is the fruition of all our hopes. This is the confidence that we have today in Christ. Hopes come true! Come to Jesus now and live forever! Eternity is irreversible and it is only a heartbeat away. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" The answer is either, NO, or YES, LORD. The two marvelous life-changing words are YES, LORD.
