Great Sermon! I always thought apostolic succession is the world's largest telephone game, Catholics trying preserve something that was whispered to their ears from thousands of years ago, obviously the message would get lost when it gets passed down like that. Plus there were a lot of political involvement, where the rulers and kings would decide who would be best suited to be a pope or control the church. Eusebius of Nicomedia, an early bishop, who was an Arian sympathizer, helped the early Eastern church accept the false doctrines of Arianism for a short while, something the RCC does not want to remember!
