To ask is to request as a favor. To demand or claim something as if we have a right to it is not what the Lord is talking about when He tells us to ask Him for things. Children have no problem asking, but as we grow older we do. Our pride, our stubbornness, our shame, keeps us from asking anyone for anything, including God. We wish for it, and hope for it, but we do not just come boldly and ASK for it, and we have not, because we ask not. Jesus said, "For every one that asketh receiveth." We need to learn to ask; it would change our lives and our churches.
