The epistle of Jude was written by Jude. His name is ironically related to Judas. This Jude was a half-brother of Christ. He did not initially believe the Lord but he ended up being used by the Lord to defend the person and work of the Redeemer and the faith that Judas despised. The Lord saved Jude and moved him to write this epistle to urge the Lord's people to defend the faith from the apostasy that surrounded them. The faith is defended by the Lord's people as they contend for the faith (Jude 3). It is defended by the Lord's people in how they live (Jude 20-23). They defend the faith by demonstrating the power of the gospel in their lives. Most importantly, the faith is defended by the Lord himself (Jude 24). God defends the faith by bringing His people to glory. That is the ultimate defense of the faith. It is the Lord's defense of the faith that we look at in this message. The Lord brands apostasy from Christ as a complete failure because He will ensure the the true people of God will be kept from apostacy. The ultimate success of the gospel is found in God's work of keeping his people from apostacy. God has an answer to apostates. It is found in that He defends the faith by preserving and presenting His people.
