Jesus' resurrection from the dead means that for those who believe in him there is certain hope of their own resurrection from the dead. It also means that he is a verified prophet of God who speaks God's truth; and he is a living Savior as well as his people's great high priest at the Father's right hand in heaven. Our text stresses another result of his resurrection: his appointment as Judge of all people. Thus God issues a sweeping command to all peoples to repent of their sin because they will be judged by a man, Christ Jesus, whose authority to judge is confirmed by his resurrection from the dead.
