Jesus and his disciples encountered the hypocritical Pharisees in a corn field. His disciples were hungry and so, rightfully, went through the wheat fields plucking the heads and rubbing them in their hands. The Pharisees accused them of profaning the sabbath, but Jesus declared himself emphatically as Lord of the sabbath. Moreover, Jesus went into the synagogue where he healed a man on the sabbath who had a withered hand in spite of the opposition of the Pharisees. The man stretched forth his hand at the command of Jesus, a feat he could not accomplish in his own power. What power in the word of the Lord!
