"Virtue", by definition, if when considered by the classical meaning of the word, it has within itself, an ardent idea of 'manliness, fortitude and courage'. Virtue is as being in conformity to a right standard of right (morality) or moral excellence, valor and potency. Peter encourages the Saints to "apply all diligence …and supply moral excellence" – v5. Thus; one of the two principles that arose regarding - a conscientious Christian man, is that "his faith must be marked by virtuous diligence" – v5. A further investigative examination of the active verb – "diligence", its certain optimal qualities deduced were as follows: a) diligence is, intensified responsibility – "haste" (b) diligence is, deliberate efforts to do and accomplish good – "applying" (i.e.) 'to bring in besides or alongside – the faith' (c) diligence must be expended in totality – applying "all" diligence – Lit. means – "to bring in all or contribute all without hesitation or holding back anything. Thus, a conscientious Christ endeavors to cultivate and give evidence of progress in diligent faith and practice, that results in growth in grace and knowledge of the glorified Christ Jesus – 3v18.
