In the first act of the story of Balaam we encountered a 'seer' who is well known for his ability to bless and curse being hired to curse Israel. The Lord makes it clear to Balaam that he will not allow him to curse Israel, but Balaam, desiring to be enriched by Balak, makes his way to Moab with the hopes that he might find a loophole in God's purpose.
In this second act we follow Balaam as he ascends three different mountains to attempt to curse Israel. What follows is an almost comedic series of events. Balak, who welcomed Balaam with a feast sends him home a few days later in great anger, having found that he was unable to curse Israel... but Balaam manages to bless Israel 3 times and curse Moab before he leaves.
