Of all the things parents can give their children, what is the greatest? It is not money. It is not an estate. It is not an education. It certainly is not eternal salvation, for only God can give that gift. As we look at the Scriptures, we see that the greatest gift parents can give to their children is an accurate representation of God. This is indeed a challenging assignment when one considers that God charges parents to work closely together to accomplish this task. In order to convey this representation accurately and biblically, parents must seek to emulate, within the boundaries of gender distinctions, God the instructor, God the Person and God the Parent. This insightful message is not only theocentric at its core, it is also challenging in its bliblical applications. The implications for the Christian home are apparent as we come to realize that all that we say and all that we do have not only temporal but eternal consequences as well.
