Christ spends the night before His cruifixion in Gethsemane with His closest disciples. The same disciples witnessed His Transfiguration. This is a very different situation. The prophesies on the mount were coming true. Gethsemane depicted Christ's suffering as He faces the coming cross. We must see Jesus here as our mediator who took our place. He wrestled with the Devil and the powers of this world. Christ came to the Lord in prayer to ask for the cup to be removed, not His will, but the Lord's. We have thanks that Jesus walked this path for us - We now have a mediator to God the Father in Heaven.
