Aim: To understand Christ's authority better, and to respond to it with godly fear.
Exegesis: We need to grapple with the authority of Christ. Some wrongly ascribe it to human means (vv. 20-21); some wrongly ascribe it to demonic means (v. 22). We need to submit to the authority of Christ. Jesus exposed (vv. 23-26) and conquered (v. 27) Satan's kingdom for us. We need to reverence the authority of Christ. He has the power to forgive (v. 28) and condemn (vv. 29-30).
Key verse: v. 27 ''No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.''
