Today I want to show you from God's Word that the resurrection of Jesus is very significant because Jesus was raised to do some very important things.
1) Jesus Was Raised to Save 3 Things that Jesus saves people from: First, Jesus… • saves people from the wrath of God - Rom. 4:22-5:1 • save people from the power of sin – Look ahead to Romans chapter 6 Romans 6 explains the glorious truth of our Union with Christ – that when God saves us through faith in Christ, we become united with Jesus in His death and resurrection. That means that just as Jesus died on the cross, so our old self has died. Romans 6 explains that believers are also united in His resurrection. Just as Jesus was raised from the dead in victory so we have been raised. We are new creations; we have been set free from the power of sin. We are no longer enslaved to sin. We are still tempted to sin, but now we can resist that temptation and choose not to sin because Christ has set us free. Jesus was raised to save people from the wrath of God, to save from the power of sin, and lastly to… • save people from death - 1 Cor 15:51-58 I want to mention two other activities Jesus was raised to do: 2) Jesus Was Raised to Rule - - Acts 2:32-36 3) Jesus Was Raised to Judge - Acts 17:30-31 God has determined that He will judge the earth through Jesus Christ. The Resurrection proves that Jesus is God's appointed Judge. Jesus is the one who will execute the judgment of God. Like v31 says there is coming a day in the future when Christ will return to earth.
