The Jews labored and longed for an earthly kingdom wherein they would no longer be in bondage to Roman rule. However, even if that earthy Kingdom were acquired, it would never be eternal or spiritual. Even the Kingdom Age established by Christ will be only a thousand-year kingdom. In other words, eventually the promised earthly Jewish Kingdom too will perish to be replaced with an eternal New Heaven/Earth Kingdom created by Jesus Christ. Although only saved people will be part of the earthly Kingdom Age at its beginning, that earthly Kingdom will eventually perish. This was the message of Christ to the Jews in the words "Labour not for the meat {food} which perisheth, but for that meat {food} which endureth unto everlasting life" (John 6:27). The eating and drinking miracles, like manna from heaven and water from the rock now become the focus of the explanation of these miracles by Jesus in the rest of John chapter six. The point of those miraculous physical types was that they were typical of Jesus and His miraculous spiritual provision through His incarnation, righteous life, vicarious death, burial, and resurrection/glorification into "the regeneration" (the New Creation). There is no doubt in the minds of the followers of the miraculous that before anyone count benefit from manna provided or the water from the rock that they needed to physically eat and drink what was physically provided. Again, we must go to almost the end of John chapter sic in verse sixty-three to get context: "It is the spirit {spiritual application} that quickeneth {gives eternal life}; the flesh {physical application} profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, a
