Joseph is a biblical story of a teenager who went through the school of real life. Patterns are being formed in childhood for the future of your life. Some tests Joseph went through: 1. God let his mother die during childbirth. (He did have the presence of a Godly grandfather, Isaac, being taught and loved by him) 2. The test of his willingness to work verses the temptation to be lazy. One good aspect of his father is, his father made him work. Joseph was not allowed to be lazy. He was in charge of his older brothers; he learned to be responsible and self motivated. Parents must make their children be responsible for jobs around the house. The idles mind is the devils workshop. 3. The test of his moral consistency in the midst of peer pressure to do wrong. Joseph's brothers were evil, his older brother was immoral. The temptations came from his own family. Would you follow the evil example from your own family? Joseph stood and passed the test, very similar to Daniel in Babylon. 4. Joseph had a father who apparently was passive. He didn't take action when his children sinned. He did nothing when his daughter was rapped, nor did he do anything when Simeon and Levi lied, stole and murdered. Passivity in parents is deadly. 5. The test of Joseph's courage to speak out verses the temptation to be silent. He was responsible for his brothers. Joseph brought a bad report about his brothers. He spoke out when he needed to. He had the courage to speak up. That is the responsibility of a Godly young man.
