Why does God often refuse our requests, when we feel they are what is best?
Dear friends have been hauled into court by wicked grandparents, trying to gain access to their little children. The parents wanted so desperately to tell their story of how the grandparents had harmed the children, but the judge refused to let them.
We had prayed God would allow them to tell the whole story, and God refused our request.
One desperate friend who had also been grievously harmed by the same people cried out, "where was God in the court room today!"
First, God's Word promises there will be justice one day. The Saints must trust Jesus that He will keep His promise to us in such matters.
But when God keeps from us things we think would be good for us, that only proves that His infinite wisdom and knowledge outrank our own feeble ignorance. He knows how all things will work out, and He knows how to give good gifts to His children!
Job never really saw how God's ways were better, yet he trusted in Him. Joseph did see many millions of people saved from death by starvation because of the bad things God brought into his life.
So when God denied us our petition to tell the truth in court, that must be His goodness toward us in some way that one day we will understand.
The Holy Ghost intercedes for us and prays for us according to the will of God. When we don't get what we asked for, we can be assured that the Holy Ghost was praying for what we got, because it was according to God's will and what was best for God's children!
Even when we are drawn down to death itself, we are more than conquerors through Christ's love!
