Continuing with the lessons learned from previous messages on Hebrews, The Race, and Matthew, Peter on the Water, we see how Joshua and the children of Israel's battles in the Promised Land are applicable to our lives today.
Jericho was the first battle the children of Israel faced in the Promised Land, and from this we can learn principles for our battles in the Christian life.
The first is to place no confidence in the flesh, including no confidence in man. Moses, their great leader, was taken away from them right before they entered in, and Joshua took his place.
The second principle is that we are to be armed with the promises of God.
The third principle of fighting the good fight of faith, is that the believer must walk by faith and not by sight. The pillar of fire and the cloud, even the manna from heaven had ceased. The children of Israel must now eat of the fruit of the land. We too, must learn to nourish ourselves by the truths found in God's Word. No miracles, no signs, but true faith receives its nourishment from the truths found in God's Word. |
