As the Savior prays for His people, some of the deep mysteries of the godhead and eternal decrees of the Covenant of Redemption are revealed and that revelation is a beneficial to you us because we learn more of our Savior and more of what He has done for all His people. It also reveals how secure our salvation is. There is no sense in which the impending crucifixion is presented as a cosmic disaster as presented by some Bible teachers. On the contrary, though it is the arch-crime of history, it is also all according to the eternal purposes of our sovereign God. As the Savior reveals these mysteries, He is giving us a glimpse of the glory of God. Moses pleaded for a glimpse of Jehovah's glory and His plea was granted. For each of us, we gain a much greater glimpse of His glory in the simple words of the Great High Priest's prayer. We belong to Him and always will. He has revealed what is needful, once and for all time in His Word and we have that revelation. The Savior assures us in His prayer that there is nothing missing and nothing lacking in His work as our Redeemer. As the hymn repeats, "Hallelujah! What a Savior." – Pastor Schlegel
