The sixth commandment is, "You shall not murder." First, we have to clarify what murder is and isn't. There are several instances when killing is not considered murder by scripture. Then we consider Christ's teaching in Matthew 5 on the sixth commandment. Jesus tells us that anger and insulting speech grow from the same stock that murder does. These things are murder in seed form. After considering our sinfulness, we then look to the solution, which is regeneration. When God changes a sinner's heart, He turns an angry self-centered sinner into a loving, God-centered saint. Because of the flesh, Christians will still deal with anger, no doubt. But God gives grace and help for this.
