This message was given by Pastor Jonathan Stobbs as he continued his evening ministry in Paul's Epistle to the Philippians. Paul continues to point to examples who stand out as they have lived for Jesus Christ and have truly given all for the gospel. As Pastor Stobbs exclaims, 'It is very clear that through this example Paul is pointing us back again to Christ. ‘Let this mind be in you!' Look at this man, surrendered to his Lord, look what he was willing to do for the sake of the gospel, this is what it is all about. Following the Lord Jesus Christ is not just an easy going, take it or leave it type of lifestyle. I'll give this, but not that, maybe sacrifice this time, but no more. Epaphroditus and his life of example, lived in the light of a crucified and exalted Saviour, is a challenge to us, if not a rebuke to soft, easy going Christianity or gospel ministry. His life shows the marks of sacrifice, a steadfast life committed to the cause of Christ, and sometimes when it is stern and demanding. It calls for self-denial and self-efficacy. It is utter dependence on God, and a removal of self from consideration. You see, this is why he is here, this is why he is held as an example.' ‘Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus!' This message is a call to be steadfast in our service for the Lord, are you willing?
