This is the first sermon in a series of sermons through 1 & 2 Timothy. The following was recorded at Island Baptist Church in Beach Haven, NJ. Visit us on the web at www.hopeoflbi.com.
There's no such thing as a person without influence (you ARE influencing someone). It is equally true that there's no such thing as a person who is not actively being influenced (something IS influencing you). Take an afternoon to observe how preschoolers interact on the playground and you'll find all the evidence you need to see the power of influence on morality. The moral trajectory of the playground, and of our world, begins to shift when people use their influence for the gain of others and the glory of God, rather than their own personal gain and glory. Until this shift happens among Church leaders, the world will continue on its downward moral trajectory. 1 & 2 Timothy, are "Letters to Leaders," given by God as instructions to Pastors to be faithful stewards of the world-changing influence He has entrusted to them.
