We’re all a mix of the good and bad elements that make up our personalities. I’m not getting into psychotherapy here but some things just are. We are a product of genetics, experience, and our teaching. Moreover, we have the sin-nature to deal with. This is what we bring to the Lord. What did these people have in common? Moses, Elijah, Gideon, Solomon, Jonah, Paul, Peter…..on and on…. Great men of God who did great things, and at some point they allowed their programming to cause them to doubt God’s ability to use their lives.
Moses - Can’t speak Jonah - They will kill me Elijah - I’m the only one who cares Lord, everyone else has deserted you. Gideon - Excuse me Lord but I’m not a military leader. (you’ve got the wrong guy) Peter - I am only a fisherman, then he let his fear ad peer pressure cause him to deny Christ. Jeremiah, the great prophet. Even he let his circumstances bring doubt….
I Beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye give up your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable serving of God. And fashion not yourselves like unto this world, but be ye changed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God is. Romans 12:1-2 GB |
