Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel 1 Kings 17:8-16 There are times in our life when we face desperate situations; -- situations in which we find our resources, strength, health, or friends are depleted. Sometimes we find ourselves scraping the bottom of the barrel of our lives. Why does God allow us to get into the barrel- scraping business? When you are scraping the bottom of the barrel, God knows where you are and where you are going. The will of God for Elijah was revealed to him by the Word of the Lord. Are you scraping the bottom of the barrel? Realize that God knows where you are and your situation. He will give you direction at the right time if you seek Him and wait for His direction. Rest in God's promises and don't be afraid. Realize that the Lord may be refining you, removing the dross of doubt, impatience, pride, selfishness, or disobedience from your life. He may be trying to develop your faith in Him, compassion, maturity, unselfishness, and sacrifice in your life. Put the Lord first in your life.
