The fact that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself alone is able to meet all of the mental, emotional, relational, psychological and spiritual needs of our wives does not let us, as husbands, off the hook! In fact, I am firmly convinced that one of the primary reasons for the rise of depression among women, even Christian women, is due to the breakdown of the most important relationship, humanly speaking, for every wife on the face of this earth, namely, a breakdown in an intimate relationship with her husband! And so, men, that is why I also firmly believe that this is at least one of the main reasons why as we turn to the words of our text for today as recorded for us in Colossians 3:19 we find the Lord our God Focusing on the Family once again with the unequivocal, succinct yet very sobering words, “Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.” |
