"The glory of God" of which "all fall short" spoken of in Romans 3:23 is the glory or approval that comes from God to people who have met their moral obligations. Were it not for sin all would enjoy this glory. Our state and standing can be made right through faith. This message probes the question--Why is eternal life versus eternal ruin suspended on faith? This is exactly what is being discussed in one of the most famous discussions ever to take place. Nicodemus suffered from, among other things, a wrong view of the kingdom of God. His view was, in one sense, way too small. Today we suffer, in many cases, from the opposite malady--a view of the kingdom of God that is way too big. This conversation took place shortly after Jesus visited Jerusalem. "Light is come into the world," Jesus said. In other words, Jesus calls Himself "the light", the manifested good; the manifested holiness before human conscience. It follows that the attitude which a man takes toward Christ, the living incarnate word, reveals INFALLIBLY HIS INMOST MORAL TENDENCY. This is the case because of the nature of faith. it has long moral roots. So does unbelief.
