"If it was somehow discovered that Jesus of Nazareth had not been raised from the dead, what difference would it make in your life? Would your worldview change? Would your morality be any different? Would it change how you see life and death? Would it affect how you lived at all, or would life go on much the same as it is now, except maybe you wouldn't come to church anymore? I mean what would be the point, right? If Jesus was not raised, then how could anything he said be true? If Jesus was not raised, how in the world can his gospel be called 'good news?' That's what the word 'gospel' means, right? If there is no resurrection, then 'eat, drink, and be merry' is about as good as it gets, and the gospel is meaningless. But if Jesus is risen, then the gospel changes everything, and here in 1 Corinthians 15, the Apostle Paul positions the gospel of the risen Jesus squarely at the center of not just the Christian faith, but at the center and foundation of all of life itself." |
