We must not only confess omnipotence as a matter of orthodoxy, but also count on omnipotence as a matter of daily encouragement. Even Abraham and Sarah laughed in unbelief, but later they laughed with joy. GOD'S POWER IN THE PAST (vv. 15-16): Two signs of Christian identity are faith in Christ and love to all believers. Converted people have both by God's past exercise of His power. GOD'S POWER IN THE PRESENT (vv. 17-19): Saved people need more spiritual knowledge to appreciate our future, God's inheritance, and His surpassing power. This comes to us by the present, powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit in us. GOD'S POWER IN THE FUTURE (vv. 20-23): The very same infinite power that raised Christ will raise up His Church. Count on it! Amen.
