"The first thing Paul lists in the qualifications for pastoral ministry is an affirmation of the nobility of the office itself. Noble means good, and the ministry is a noble task because it serves the highest good which is the salvation of sinners and the sanctification of the saints to the glory of God. So I want to bring this home to us in a very practical way: we need to have the kind of mindset as a church and as parents to raise our boys in such a way that they look at the ministry as something to actually aspire to. We need to recover the biblical vision of the nobility of the pastorate and impress that upon our sons so that if by God's sovereign grace He calls them into ministry, they might hear and answer that call with joy. Church let's pray and expect that the next pastor of Bethel Church is sitting right here, legs dangling from these very pews, and start preparing our boys to live the kind of life that the high calling of ministry requires."
