The situation was pretty grim. The armies of Judah, Israel and Edom were about to do battle with the Moabites. But their trek through the burning desert had completely depleted their supply of water.
In this 4th miracle of Elisha, God instructs them to fill the valley full of ditches and they would have all the water they needed. Digging ditches in a desert didn't make much sense to human reasoning, but only in this way were they going to be prepared for the Lord's blessing.
There's much practical instruction for any believer or church who finds themselves in a spiritual desert, and the "water" has run out. How can you prepare yourself for the blessing of God?
