Our newly forming global society has been deliberately engineered to foster and develop in you (the consumer) an insatiable thirst for personal recognition. The highly seductive "look at me" psychological bait of every social media platform, has become the modus operandi of politicians and preachers, as well as corporate moguls and soccer-moms. Recognition is the new global commodity – we buy and sell it like copper and coffee. When our spouses won't give enough of it, we divorce. When our employers are stingy with it, we quit. When friends withhold it, we cancel them. Recognition is an addiction. Consequently, we find ourselves living in a world plagued by endless protests to acknowledge each and every individual person with the recognition our ever-fluctuating felt-needs demand. 2000 years ago, a group of ordinary men and women astounded the world by performing the most miraculous acts ever recorded in human history…acts designed by God to solicit world-wide recognition. What was their response to this newfound attention? "Why do you stare at us?" (Acts 3:12). They deflected and denounced the recognition. What these first Christians understood about their role and mission on the earth, astounded and confounded the attention-seeking world around them. Join us this Sunday, Sept.26th @10am for a life-altering and soul-liberating message from Acts 3.
