As our Lord Jesus was walking from the city of Jericho to the city of Jerusalem he met two beggars, blind from birth, sitting by the roadside. They cried out for Jesus to have mercy on them, and shouted all the louder when the crowd rebuked them. Jesus had compassion for them and healed their eyes. As those who are spiritually blind from birth, we, too, must personally, passionately and persistently cry out to the Lord for His mercy, and once having our spiritual sight restored through faith, we must go forth to faithfully follow Him out of heartfelt gratitude for making us the blessed beneficiaries Christ's compassion.
