The Valley of Baca was a dry valley located at the end of the wilderness just before Jerusalem. For the pilgrims going up to the capital city to celebrate the Jewish feasts, it was a difficult area to negotiate.
It is a place we may well identify with.
However, our testimony is that our God - along the deep, dark, dry valleys of this life - often meets us and brings blessing out of barrenness.
With Miss F.J. Crosby we can say:
Tho’ by the mist and the shadow Sometimes my sky may be dim, Rich are the moments of blessing Spent in communion with Him!
Ever He walketh beside me, Brightly His sunshine appears, Spreading a beautiful rainbow Over the valley of tears.
